AKPS has a team of IT consulting professional with many years of experience in and a comprehensive knowledge of state-of-the-art computing and telecommunications environments.

Joseph Collins is a seasoned senior IT professional with more than forty years of IT experience and expertise. Collins formed AKPS after his retirement from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute where he served as their first Vice President for Information Technology.  The Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a national biomedical research organization uses its sixteen billion dollar endowment to advance bio medical research through grant giving and it uses IT internally as a strategic partner in support of its mission.  His organization provided IT support to the Institute’s Chevy Chase headquarters and field sites around the Nation.

Collins has had a long career in Information Technology and has held a variety of technology posts. His career has included positions in corporate environments with IBM, Exxon, and SCT Corporation and positions in academic environments at The George Washington University and Howard University. Collins has received a bachelor of science in electrical engineering degree and a master’s degree in computer science, both from Howard University.

Collins’ greatest strength is his ability to quickly grasp business challenges and apply innovative business solutions. His knowledge, experience, and expertise in both for profit and not for profit environments bring a unique blend of skills to the table.

When not working Collins spends his time riding motorcycles, motor-home traveling, and honing his photography skills.
